Coheed and Cambria is a band that you either love or hate; and in this case, the dominate feeling is love. Many things have changed during the interim between their sophomore effort, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 and their latest release, Good Apollo... The prominent one being their recent signing with big time players Sony Records. Nevertheless the band’s third release is a still as breathtaking and captivatingly infectious then their previous two albums.

One of the album’s best features is the reoccurring continuation of “the story.” Any die-hard Coheed fan will tell you the basics of the complex trilogy created by the group’s front-man, Claudio Schanez. To sum it up, Coheed and Cambria are husband and wife and they have four children who cause some serious conflict. Every song on this album, and past albums as well tell a small segment of the story of Coheed and Cambria. Most listeners will catch the reoccurring tune that rings throughout the album’s first track “Keeping The Blade.”

Good Apollo... features many infectious hooks and dark themes that can easily be compared to those of IKSOSE3; but, at the same time, this disc is full of astonishing vocal melodies and near impossible guitar tracks that just cannot be ignored. The album’s first single “Welcome Home” was a divine choice in summing up what this album is all about. Infectious melodies, remarkable lyrics, outstanding instrumentation, and most of all: pure rock and roll. Tracks like “The Suffering” and “Crossing The Frame” easily tie into the pop side of this masterpiece of an album, where other tracks such as “Mother May I” and “Apollo I: The Writing Writer” bring out the darker tendencies in the disc. Every song on this album just gives the listeners more and more reason to love Coheed and Cambria.

If you are a music lover you need this album regardless to how you feel about Coheed and Cambria. This album will change your mind. Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness contains all the right parameters that go into making an ideal piece of work.
