A band who have always sounded out of place in my mind on Drive-Thru Records, Steel Train once again prove they have the talent to take over the world. Covering their influences, the guitarist and singer not only pay dues to these wonderful classic songs, but do them serious justice. Perfectly rendered, especially vocally, every diverse song on this EP exhibits a band deserving of much more credit. The only downfall is that, regardless of how amazingly recreated the covers are, they are, covers. If you are not a fan of covers, you will still most likely dig this disc though, simply because Steel Train's inevitable smoothness is almost infecting, and certainly enjoyable.
Opening with a silly classic song that I think it's safe to way we all enjoy, the band sounds simply irresistable. Helplessly Hoping is perhaps the most beautiful vocal track on here, and I couldn't help but love the Beatles cover. This EP is a magnificent display of a band who is influenced by some serious greats, and pays quality tribute to their fans and the original artists.
To not buy this EP would be a sin, its diversity and original twist on each cover makes this EP the best cover EP I have ever heard. Buy it today and support a band who are more talented then I think they even know.
