At first, I hated this CD. I'll be the first to admit that it took quite awhile for In Reverie to come around and hit me. Chris Conley's voice sounds different, once again, and I suddenly realized that Saves The Day have continually and are continually reinventing themselves while staying true to their nature, which is pop sensible rock.
So why was "In Reverie" so initially disappointing? Did it lack the hooks? Did it lack the spacey, weirdness of "Stay What You Are?" Sure. But what was retained was an even more outstanding sense of style and lyricism, once again making me fall in love with Saves The Day all over again.
In Reverie is , truly, a disc in reverie, in peace with itself. The songs are tranquilly calming and lucid, and the result is a warm, happy sensation in my eardrums.
