This title might have been too ironic for the boys. I'm crossing my fingers for a follow-up to this album that finally hit me like a pile of bricks, after I let it run in my ears for months and months. Like a chainsaw, the melodies and rock came clashing through my ears and I suddenly realized something. This record is fucking genius.
"This May Be The Year I Disappear" was produced, scrapped, and re-produced by close friend Rory Allen Phillips (The Impossibles, Slowreader). I can't complain too much, as the songs are amazing no matter what (and I like Rory's production job anyways). The album is filled with songs that are somber, songs that are aggressive, and songs that are truly straight-forward pop. A diverse record filled with Dan Keyes and co.'s unwielded talent and ability to write catchy, aggressive hooks that won't let themselves get out of your skin.
If you haven't heard this album, you're a fool.
There, I said it.
