In the world of SoCal pop punk/emo, it's obviously hard to stick out. Name Taken, somehow, does it; if it's all because of their age (all around 17!) then so be it. They blast out pop punk in the direct vein of Starting Line/New Found Glory, with the same total sound and feel, but somehow just keep you in.

The band isn't anything new; we've seen stuff like this before. But they just do pop punk so well it's hard not to stay in tune. Their combination of high energy and guitar emphasis just puts out such a great sound I couldn't help but be totally interested in this CD.

Most of us "fans" will recognize the first song from the Because We Care Compilation (which is how I even got into these guys) with its "won't face this day, and I won't care never, the sunrise promises nothing new" vocal intro which just pulls you in. What a great way to start a great CD.

It doesn't stop there; "For Sunday" is one friggin amazing song. I couldn't believe it when I heard the fast tapping of the guitars rage on for the entire verse and how it kept on changing its chord progressions and pulling you along its pop punk ride. The CD continued to impress me, and the last acoustic song is pretty good too.

It's nothing innovative or any different from what we've all been accustomed to, but it's definitely a sick, solid CD. All the songs are enjoyable, and I can't wait to see where this band ends up in a few years.
