One of the many bands on the famous indie label Tooth And Nail has been around for awhile now and seems to slip through the cracks sometimes. This is a shame, for mewithoutYou are a band of sheer talent, combining an almost "Spoken word" aspect with spacey hardcore brilliance. Sometimes they remind the listener of bands like Cave In and Codeseven, and at the next instant they will be pummeling you with heavy crunching that is reminiscent of bands like Hum or The Beautiful Mistake. In any case, "Catch For Us The Foxes" is a continuation of what we all heard and loved on "A To B Life," but the band seems to have significantly matured in both production and composition.

Initially, the songs seem thicker, more dynamic, and while they might not be as instantly loud as the sound was on "A To Be Life," the songs have a way of penetrating into your veins. The tempo of the disc is still that same pulsating, chant-like resonance depicted so well on "A To B Life," and the energy is still there, but the songs seem to be much more organic and almost deeper, musically. In fact, the CD is so moody that each song seems to have it's own feel, it's own tone, and it's own approach. There is more singing on this disc as well, but the spoken word and heavy bass thunders just as mewithoutYou always have. There is a lot more texture in the guitars as well; many more hooks and guitar leads are prominent and brought out--the songwriting seems much more complex and solid.

The growth from "A To B Life" is there, but the band's well-developed roots in late 80's art-hardcore are still hugely evident. MewithoutYou have done it again, and this time around I strongly suggest you jump onto this train and hold on tight, because if the amazing production and quality of the composition on this record doesn't grab you, their stunning live act will. Buy "Catch For Us The Foxes" today.
