Hey Mercedes is a band that takes awhile to grow on you. For the uninformed, they play a style of indie-rock-emo stuff with highly-blended and melodic vocals that sometimes stray into places that few singers stray into..it's hard to explain, but his voice is his own; rarely imitated.

The EP features a similar cover to their last full length, "Everynight Fire Works," which looks awesome. I love their odd, complacent and neat artwork. Anyways, it's good they left it the same because these songs sound like 4 songs that simply "didn't make" it onto their LP. It's hard to tell the difference between the "new" ones and the ones on the LP. That doesn't make it a bad EP, but just nothing really new. Although there are some really interesting guitar riffs on this, like the neat one at the beginning of "Save a Life," this EP is simply 4 more kicking tunes by Hey Mercedes.

I'd recommend getting their LP, "Everynight Fire Works".. I know my review from awhile back reflects a different opinion, but these guys are obviously talented, on every level of a band. They don't have that quick-grab-and-tuck talent found in New Found Glory, Saves the Day, or such, but instead have a little deeper talent that you have to dig to find. It's good to widen your horizons, especially in music, and these guys could just do it. As for this EP specifically, the new songs aren't anything really different from the CD, but do have that same layered and deep goodness found on their LP.
